FOUNDING AN ALPBACH CLUB IN SOUTH TYROL: A EUROPEAN IDEA CROSSES THE BRENNER

Until 2005 the voice of Alpbach, the Tyrolean Village of Thinkers, was only heard as far as the Brenner Pass. But the much quoted Alpbach intellectual spirit and the European idea were felt to be equally relevant for South Tyrol! So a small group of alpbachophiles held a meeting at the Palais in 2003: The idea of founding an Alpbach South Tyrol Club was born, although it was another two years before the club was up and running. In the meantime, the Alpbach South Tyrol Club, which holds regular meetings in the Palais, has provided more than a hundred young South Tyroleans with an invaluable learning experience in Alpbach. The photo gallery shows various club events, including a meeting with Erhard Busek, former Vice-Chancellor of Austria and President of the European Forum.

  • The highlight of the year builds the European Forum Alpbach which is since the aftermath of WWII organised every August in North Tyrol.
  • At the initiative of the CASA the "Tyrol-Day" was substantially reformed in oder to be more orientated towards innoviation and foresmost to better reflect the spirit of the transnational Euroregion Tyrol/Southtyrol/Trentino.
